Are there times in your life you wish you could just relive over and over again? Our honeymoon was one of those times for me. I’ve had the travel bug lately and can’t help but think about our honeymoon. I love to travel- domestically and internationally- almost more than anything else. I love everything about it, even crowded airports! Airports stress my husband out, but I love watching people, having time to read and eat Cinnabon [no more Cinnabon for me, though, being gluten free ;( ], the flight, and the arrival in a new place. I like to explore, eat new foods, try new things. Our honeymoon let us do all that and more.
We took an all-inclusive trip to Cancun for our honeymoon last summer, which I so, so recommend. [Quick shout out to Carlos’ mom for arranging it!] It was fabulous. We spent the flight reading and napping before landing at a small airport in the middle of a lush, green landscape. Our driver picked us up and took us to our beautiful resort on the ocean. We were greeted with flowers and cocktails- my preferred method! Our suite was beautiful and romantic, complete with a hot tub, champagne, a honeymoon cake, a full bar, and incredible views. The peninsula is narrow- to one side is a calm, lush bay and to the other are white sand beaches and, my favorite part, the ocean. The resort had several amazing restaurants and bars, so there was no shortage of delicious food and drinks. Other than eating and drinking, we spent the week lounging on the beach, swimming, drinking coffee on our balcony, ordering room service, snorkeling, boating, swimming with dolphins, touring Mayan ruins, having romantic dinners or the beach and balconies, getting massages, dancing, and celebrating our newlywed status! Ah, perfection.
